Sharpening Pencils

Sharpening Pencils
There have been signs all around me that the beginning of school is close. The fresh haircuts and clean white sneakers and sporty looking back packs. The other morning my wife and I where enjoying our morning coffee as we watched our young neighbor board the bus. I felt nervous for her. Sympathetic to how overwhelmed she must be feeling on this first day with so many firsts.
I sit and reflect on the things I have been doing to prepare for this fall semester. As I have sharpened my pencils, ordered my books, looked over the syllabuses and began gathering my thoughts and plan of attack. I am reminded that thankfully, I thru Christ have the tools to get this work done. Scriptures give me a very good visual to prepare me and keep me focused.
Ephesians 6:13-17
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
Preparation is so vital in helping to stay on track weather it is your first day of class, or a new job or even a new season in life.
